Every change and fix in Hamdam 1.2
Hamdam 1.2 brought the Voice of the Elder, a faal that opens a whole page of the Divan, a Persian calendar you can live by and a quieter way to read.
Today
- The daily verse now changes every day, instead of staying on the same verse from one day to the next.
- The verse library has grown to 500 verses, 100 from each of the five poets.
- Today's verse leans gently towards the kinds of verse that have meant something to you before.
- If you choose to, the verses you share help Hamdam learn what speaks to you. It stays off unless you turn it on.
- The reflection beneath your verse now has a sense of the time of day.
- The sky behind Today has more depth and light, and dawn's high cloud can now be seen.
- Readers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and the UAE now see skies drawn for their own country.
Verses, reading and sharing
- Hafez now speaks aloud: the Voice of the Elder brings real human recitation, from readers who have given their voices to the Divan.
- Reading mode is quiet and free of chrome. Pinch to set the size on iPad.
- Reading mode remembers where you left off.
- Your favourites are now a notebook, grouped by month, showing when you saved each verse.
- Share a verse as a story, in a tall format made for stories.
- Add a dedication when you share a verse, to say who it is for.
Faal
- The faal opens a whole page of the Divan rather than a single couplet, so you can read around the line you drew.
- Your faal is revealed with a soft touch you can feel.
- You can ask Siri or Shortcuts to read your faal.
- On Apple Watch, the faal now answers your intention the way it does on iPhone.
Calendar and occasions
- In Farsi, the Shamsi and Gregorian dates sit together in the calendar grid, and the day panel names the date in three calendars.
- Official holidays and commemoration days are marked in the grid.
- Five special nights now arrive with their own chosen verses.
- Mehregan and Sizdah Bedar now have their own greetings, and a notification the evening before.
Widgets and notifications
- The Shamsi date can live on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
- A new month calendar widget, and a small overview widget.
- Widgets now look right in StandBy.
- Reminders now learn from the times you actually reflect, and move towards the hours that suit you.
Discover
- Iranian cinema joins the Persian picks.
- A curated television pick joins Discover.
- The picks no longer squeeze their titles.
Roots
- Roots now carries moments and holidays for the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and the UAE.
- Each of those countries has its own symbols, with photographs and a few sourced lines about each.
- In the United Kingdom, bank holidays follow your own nation.
- When you first set up Hamdam, the countries it has content for are suggested first.
Settings and devices
- Choose your Persian font, including Vazirmatn.
- Seasonal app icons for Nowruz and Yalda, and a place to choose your icon.
- Hamdam now runs from iOS 26.0 and watchOS 26.0, so more iPhones and Apple Watches can use it.
