In one line

Hamdam is a daily Persian poetry, reflection and journal app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, made in Brisbane. Free to download, with optional extras.

In a paragraph or three

Hamdam is a daily Persian poetry, reflection and journal app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, made in Brisbane by Ealia Azizollahi. You say how your day feels on a slider from Heavy to Bright, and Hamdam offers a reflection to match, shaped by the weather, the season and the time of day.

For a reader with a Persian connection, each day offers a verse from Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam, Parvin Etesami, Ferdowsi or Nezami, in the original Persian or in English. There is a Fal Hafez too, the old custom of opening Hafez for an answer, in the Garden with the Mind coach. You can keep the question to yourself, as the tradition does, and Hafez answers. Yalda, Norooz and Mehregan are marked in the calendar.

Hamdam 2.0 brings the family in. Roots holds the people in your life, Ask an Elder keeps a grandparent telling a story in their own voice, and relatives join from their own iCloud. They see the family, never your reflections. Private family messages, closed end to end, come with Hamdam Plus.

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Hamdam writes the reflection and reads the reader’s journey on device, in English; nothing a reader writes is sent to Hamdam.

There is no account and no sign up. The verses are sourced from Ganjoor.

Coverage

Ganjoor, the online library of classical Persian poetry that Hamdam’s verses come from, introduced Hamdam on its blog on 26 September 2026, in Persian.

If you do try it

The poets and the Fal Hafez appear for readers with a Persian connection. To see them, set the app to Farsi, or choose Iran, Afghanistan or Tajikistan as the country you were born in, at setup or in Settings. Otherwise Hamdam leads with the reflection, and Roots carries your own country’s days.

  • The Today screen: a morning greeting, the day’s verse from Parvin Etesami, and a gentle nudge for the day ahead.
  • The Reflections screen, with the private journal and favourites.
  • The Your Journey screen, with a mood trend chart.
  • The Garden screen in 2.0: a card for right now, the Body, Spirit and Mind coaches, and a habit planted in the garden bed.

New in Hamdam 2.1

  • A welcome week: every new install has all of Hamdam Plus for its first seven days, given by the app itself, with nothing to start and nothing to cancel.
  • Ferdowsi and Nezami join the poets, seven in all, with a library of Shahnameh stories in Roots for readers with a Persian connection.
  • Ask Hamdam answers typed questions about the reader’s own reflections, journal and family stories, on the device: with Apple Intelligence in English, and in Farsi with an optional model downloaded from Apple. It is part of Hamdam Plus.
  • Hamdam Health: the Garden’s coaches ask about goals and suggest gentle exercises, and for Plus members read heart and sleep signals from Apple Health against the reader’s own usual. Wellness, not diagnosis.
  • For readers with a Persian connection, Yalda comes to Today in December, with a Yalda Faal of Hafez and a card to share.
  • Family on Today: one small line a day from the reader’s own family in Roots, reflections kept privately with the people they mention, invitations suggested at most once a week, and, with Hamdam Plus, a yearly card of the year with family.
  • Search across everything the reader has kept, Siri and Spotlight for reflections, clearer family invitations, a Privacy and your data page with export, free reflection sharing, and an unlimited Faal.

Every change and fix in 2.1

New in Hamdam 2.0.3

  • A shorter start: Quick setup reaches Today in four steps, or three for a reader with a Persian connection, and Full setup asks a little more first. Neither has a purchase screen.
  • Hamdam Plus is offered only after the first reflection, with Not now as an equal choice.
  • From a week before, Today counts down to the reader’s birthday and the birthdays of their close family in Roots.
  • Today’s verse can be shared from the verse screen, and shared verses and reflections carry a link to Hamdam on the App Store.
  • Built for iOS 27, and still runs on iOS 26.
