Every change and fix in Hamdam 2.0.3
Hamdam 2.0.3 gives you a gentler first minute, a countdown to the birthdays in your family, and a way to share today's verse with a link back to Hamdam. Here is everything that changed, area by area.
Your first minute
- Welcome now offers two ways in: Quick setup and Full setup.
- Quick setup takes you to Today in four steps, or three if you have a Persian connection.
- Full setup also asks, as before, why you came, your name, how Hamdam should address you, and which companions you would like.
- Neither way in has a purchase screen any more.
- Hamdam's privacy promise is now one line on Welcome instead of a screen of its own.
- Plus is offered after your first reflection, with "Not now" as an equal button beside it. It may be offered once more from your third day if you have come back on three separate days, and never more than twice in your first week.
- After Quick setup, a card on Today asks, after your first reflection, your name, how Hamdam should address you and why you came. It goes for good once you answer it or dismiss it twice, and never appears if Hamdam already knows your name.
- After Quick setup, the Mental, Fitness and Calendar companions are offered the first time you open the Garden.
- For a new reader, Apple Health is asked about the first time they open the Move coach in the Garden as a Plus member, rather than when Hamdam opens.
- If you already use Hamdam, none of this changes for you, and you are not asked these questions again.
- Welcome now scrolls at large text sizes, with both ways in kept in view at the bottom.
- The Plus offer keeps its dawn colours over a night sky, so it stays easy to read.
- When your language comes back from iCloud, the Language screen now ticks it on your first visit, instead of your iPhone's language.
- On an iPhone set to a calendar other than the Gregorian, the Plus offer and the card asking your name now arrive in your first days as they should.
- The Welcome subtitle in Farsi has new wording.
Birthdays
- From a week before, Today counts down to your birthday and to the birthdays of your close family in Roots: parents, partner, children, brothers and sisters.
- The soonest birthday shows first, with how many more fall the same week, and you can hide one until next year.
- A birthday recorded in the Persian solar calendar comes round on its Persian date.
- If Hamdam does not know your birthday, Today asks for it, and stops once you answer or dismiss it twice.
- At most once a week, Today asks for the birthday of a close family member Roots has no date for.
- If Hamdam already has access to your calendar and the Calendar companion is on, it can suggest a birthday from your iPhone's Birthdays calendar when the name matches a family member exactly. Nothing is added until you tap Add it, and Hamdam never asks for calendar access for this.
- Only one of these questions appears at a time, and never beside the card asking your name.
Sharing
- If you read the poets, share today's verse straight from the verse screen, with the share button beside the heart.
- Every verse and reflection you share now carries a link to Hamdam on the App Store, so friends can find it.
- Shared as a picture, the link goes along to Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Notes and Copy; other apps, such as Instagram, receive the card on its own.
- The share card signs itself Hamdam in your language, in a larger mark that reads at a glance.
Apple Health
- Hamdam now checks your current Apple Health permission before saving your State of Mind, so a change you make in the Health app is followed straight away.
- If you take a while to tap Allow in the Health dialog, your answer is kept, and Hamdam no longer waits on Health as it opens.
- If the Health permission sheet stalls, tapping Continue again brings up a fresh one, and a late answer is still recorded once.
- For a Plus member, the Health question now waits until Hamdam has confirmed your membership.
- A question Hamdam asks only once, such as the Health question or the companions, is now offered again later if another screen kept it from appearing, instead of being counted as seen.
Plus and restoring purchases
- Restoring your purchases now confirms with a short message, instead of the screens that follow a new purchase.
- If a purchase cannot be verified, restoring now says so, instead of saying there was nothing to restore.
- Restoring from the Plus offer on Today shows that it worked before the offer closes.
- A message about a purchase that could not be verified now appears only while you are buying or restoring.
Language, iCloud and Apple Watch
- After a reinstall, Hamdam keeps waiting for your language to arrive from iCloud, so a Farsi reader whose settings arrive late still comes back in Farsi.
- Reflections drafted on Apple Watch are added once, on iPhone, so they no longer appear twice.
- A reflection you delete no longer reappears in Spotlight.
Words and legibility
- The verse screen's title now reads Verse for an English reader, instead of the Persian word.
- Welcome and the games hub show Hamdam's name in your language.
- The Reflect button's label, once you have reflected, is easy to read over a pale sky.
- The microphone permission message now names the Roots tab.
- Dashes in the app's own English and Farsi text are replaced with plain punctuation.
