Every change and fix in Hamdam 2.0.2
Hamdam 2.0.2 is a careful round of fixes, many of them things readers told us about. Here is everything that changed, area by area.
Setting up and restore
- Choosing Farsi when you first open Hamdam now carries straight on in Farsi, instead of returning you to the Welcome screen.
- Setting up on a new iPhone no longer jumps into the app halfway through when your iCloud settings arrive late, so Health and Companions are still offered.
- If you skipped Health, going back from Companions no longer lands you on the Plus Health screen.
- Reinstall Hamdam or set up a new iPhone, and you come back in Farsi if Farsi is what you chose, with your Apple Watch following.
- A Plus member restoring onto a new device is now asked about Apple Health there, because Health permission belongs to each device.
- After a reinstall, the What's New cards no longer appear one after another, and the welcome is not shown again.
- Answers you cleared, such as your heritage, country or gender, stay cleared instead of coming back from iCloud.
- The day you started with Hamdam and the verses you have already seen are kept across reinstalls and devices.
- Settings that arrive late from iCloud now reach your notifications, the weather and the daily riddle too.
- Switching to a different Apple ID now restores that account's settings without merging in the previous account's streak.
iCloud and sync
- iCloud sync now starts as soon as it can, including when you come back to the app, when Plus arrives or when your iCloud account changes, not only when Hamdam opens.
- Your streak and your free reflection count pick up values that reach iCloud late.
- Screens left open while iCloud sync switches on keep your edits instead of losing them.
- Deleting all your data now also clears your streak on your other devices, so it does not come back.
- Your journal and favourites on Apple Watch no longer go blank after an update from another device.
- A reflection that arrives twice is shown once, and the fuller copy is always the one kept.
- Coming back to the app no longer holds up your reminders while iCloud catches up.
Family
- Your family universe, your place in it and your family messages come back after a reinstall.
- If Hamdam cannot tell which person in your family is you, it now asks "Which one is you?"
- A family member on the free plan keeps syncing with the family after the app restarts.
- Your family refreshes each time you come back to the app.
- Clearing who you are in the family, your family role or your birthday on one device is no longer undone by another.
- A birthday entered before your family has synced no longer creates a second you.
- When your iPhone leaves a family, your Apple Watch leaves it too, even after a restart.
- Changes you are still saving are no longer overwritten by an older copy from iCloud.
- Unblocking someone now reaches your other devices.
- Tapping a family message alert while Roots is open takes you to the message.
- Family message alerts start as soon as you join Plus, and stop when Plus ends.
- After you join a family, your device no longer carries on as the owner of the family it had before.
About You
- Your birthday is now kept in iCloud and comes back after a reinstall or on a new iPhone.
- Your About You photo can now be kept in iCloud with your place in the family, and the camera prompt says so.
- A photo taken with an earlier version is never copied to iCloud without asking: Hamdam asks you once whether to keep it there.
- Cancelling the heritage questions no longer moves you on to the region step.
The right content for you
- Readers without a Persian connection no longer get Yalda, Norooz or Chaharshanbe Suri notifications.
- Seasonal notifications in English no longer carry Farsi script.
- The app's colours and scene follow the Persian festivals only for readers with a Persian connection.
- The calendar's day panel and search no longer show Persian moments to readers without a Persian connection.
- Spotlight no longer lists the poets' verses for readers without a Persian connection.
- The seasonal notifications switch is shown only to readers who can receive a seasonal moment.
- The gender question no longer mentions Persian.
- Plus readers without Persian content can share again, without a verse.
Plus and the free plan
- A refunded purchase now ends Plus, on iPhone and on Apple Watch.
- Your free reflection count is kept through a reinstall and on a second device.
- The free monthly reflection count starts again on the first of the month, even if Hamdam stayed open overnight.
- At the free limit, tapping Reflect now shows the Plus options instead of doing nothing.
- The one-time question about notifications after your first reflection is no longer skipped.
- Buying Lifetime while a subscription is still running now tells you so, and Settings shows how to cancel the subscription.
- Ask to Buy now tells you the request has gone to your family organiser, on iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Free trial offers are checked again after a purchase and whenever Plus is refreshed.
- The Plus offer no longer lists poet deep dives or the Faal to readers without a Persian connection.
- Opening Hamdam never waits for the App Store to answer.
- Checking your purchases can no longer clear a purchase you have just made.
- The weekly new verses for Plus now arrive once a week, as intended.
Faal
- On the free plan, the three Faal readings a day are now shared wherever you open it: Today, the Mind coach or Siri.
- When the day's free readings are used, the Faal on Today now offers Plus, and Siri points you to the app.
- Siri's Faal no longer reads a Hafez verse to readers without a Persian connection.
Today, widgets and Siri
- The verse widget now shows today's verse, not yesterday's.
- The streak widget no longer shows a streak as still running once it has ended.
- Widgets no longer get stuck refreshing on the night the clocks go back.
- Widget previews in the gallery no longer show a Persian verse to everyone.
- Siri's streak and today's verse answer in your language.
- A reflection found in Spotlight now opens that reflection, not the list.
- Watering your habits from Siri or Shortcuts now updates the same habits you see in the app.
Roots and the calendar
- Public holidays in the Americas now show on the right day, not a day early.
- Yalda and Chaharshanbe Suri now show as tonight on the evening itself, instead of jumping to next year after midday.
- In Farsi, the calendar moves through the Persian months one at a time, without skipping Aban, Dey or Bahman.
- Moving to another state updates your public holidays straight away, rather than keeping the old state's until next year.
- The Norooz Live Activity now counts its days correctly, with Sizdah Bedar on the thirteenth day.
- Opening Roots from a link no longer brings up the heritage introduction on top of another screen.
- On a phone set to the Persian calendar, the games' daily plays, the monthly reflection count and your Garden days now count correctly, and switching calendars no longer locks the games.
- Hamdam now follows a change of time zone without needing a restart.
Apple Watch
- Reflections you write on Apple Watch on the free plan now reach your iPhone, and each appears there once.
- If a reflection cannot be saved, the Watch now tells you and keeps it open, and a draft is never cleared before your phone has saved it.
- The Plus screen on the Watch now shows the plan, its monthly price, the free trial when you are eligible, the renewal terms, and links to Privacy and Terms of Use.
- The Watch picks up your language as soon as it connects, and is never switched to English by mistake.
- The day plan complication now changes with each part of your day.
- A remembrance on 29 February or 30 Esfand now appears in years without that day.
Garden and coaches
- Your day plan is rebuilt once when your overnight sleep and heart readings arrive, instead of staying fixed from an early morning open.
- Finishing a session now updates your day plan.
- The coaches' tone now follows your Companion switches.
- The coaches no longer call your day a quiet one before midday.
- Habit changes made on another device now show up.
- After a Move session, the effort question now appears instead of being skipped.
- The one-time Sleep set-up and links to a coach now open even when another screen is showing.
Weather, location and Kiosk
- Weather and local holidays no longer wait forever for your location.
- Weather more than six hours old, or without a location, is no longer shown as current.
- The Kiosk keeps its headlines when you are offline.
- With location turned off, the button now takes you to iPhone Settings.
Games: Mosha'ereh
- Online Mosha'ereh now carries on past the first round.
- The microphone now closes when you leave a match or time runs out, so the music comes back in every game.
- Reciting anyway is offered only for a verse Hamdam does not hold, a refused verse no longer resets the clock, and a verse cannot be recited twice.
Games: Takhte Nard
- Online, an undone move no longer reaches the other player.
- Online, bearing off your last checker now ends your turn and sends the result.
- The controls fit every iPhone, stacking neatly on a narrow screen.
Games: Hokm
- The table fits the screen on every iPhone.
- The online table now opens once matchmaking has finished.
- The opening deal keeps the newest card in view.
Games: Riddle
- The daily riddle no longer slips into the wrong day around midnight.
- Your riddle history is kept when settings restore from iCloud.
Games: every game
- Starting a new online match no longer uses up a play to resume one you already have.
- Closing a match that is still under way now asks first, in Takhte Nard, Hokm and Mosha'ereh.
- An invitation, a link or a turn alert during a match now asks before leaving it, and works while the games screen is open.
- Game Center scores held while you are offline or signed out are sent later instead of being lost.
Sound
- A phone call or unplugging headphones during a breathing session no longer closes Hamdam.
- The first breathing tone is now heard in full.
- A recitation stops when you close its screen, and its button no longer gets stuck.
- Game sounds come back after you recite or record a voice note.
- Voice recording now copes with a double tap and an incoming call.
Farsi and right to left
- About twenty Farsi phrases that had lost their ezafe are written correctly again.
- Sharing a verse in Farsi now shares the Persian verse, signed Hamdam.
- Poets are credited without a dash in Farsi, in notifications, the journal, the Watch face, stickers and the Live Activity.
- The back arrow in reflection insights now points the right way in Farsi.
- In Farsi, the faces in the family universe stay on their rings.
- In Farsi, the Divan's corner ornaments sit in their own corners.
- Persian search now finds words however their final heh is written.
Accessibility and layout
- Verse of the Day now sits above the date at the largest text sizes, instead of running off the card.
- The Apple Health row fits a small phone, moving onto two rows when it needs to.
- The injury area choices scroll sideways, so they fit at large text sizes.
- VoiceOver reads the symbol photo credit and source link in your language.
Notifications
- Notifications you allowed to arrive quietly now count as allowed.
- Turning notifications off now also removes any seasonal notifications already scheduled.
- The same reminder is no longer sent twice.
- Reminders update when you change your name or time zone.
New
- How to use Hamdam, a guide on the Hamdam website in English, is now linked from Support in Settings.
