Today, and your reflection each day

Free, with fifteen daily reflections each calendar month. Hamdam Plus has no limit.

The daily ritual is the heart of the app, and it is free. You say how the day feels, and Hamdam answers with a short reflection written for it.

What leads Today depends on who is reading. If you read Hamdam in Farsi, or read in English and were born in Iran, Afghanistan or Tajikistan, Today opens on the verse of the day from one of the seven poets. Everyone else meets no poets at all, and Today opens on a reflection of the day in plain words instead.

The verse is settled once a day and stays put until the day turns. Hamdam weighs a cultural moment close by, the weather where you are if you share it, and the kinds of verse you have kept before. The mood you set shapes the reflection rather than reshuffling the poem. Signals you have chosen to share, like sleep, tilt the tone rather than score anything about you.

Step by step

  1. Open Today. The greeting, the date in your own calendar, and the verse or reflection of the day are already there.

    Todayامروز

The top of Today for a reader with a Persian connection: Good morning, the date in the Persian calendar, and the verse of the day by Hafez with a question to sit with.
  2. Tap the reflection button to begin.

Begin today's reflectionتأمل امروز را آغاز کن

  3. Move the slider to say how your heart is doing. It reads from a little heavy, through somewhere in between, to lighter. There is no wrong place to put it.

How's your heart doing today?حال دلت چگونه است؟

  4. If you like, add a mark for how the moment felt, and say how your energy is and what is on your mind. All of it is optional.

  5. Tap the reflection button again. A reflection comes back, written for the way you just described the day, and it is saved to Reflections on its own. The line under it says whether Apple Intelligence or Hamdam wrote it.

  6. Tap the verse of the day to read it closely, mark it a favourite with the heart, or open the whole poem.

Worth knowing

  • The bundled library is seven hundred verses, one hundred each from Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam, Parvin Etesami, Ferdowsi and Nezami. It is built into the app and needs no internet connection.
  • The reflection is written on your device by Apple Intelligence when it is available, switched on in Your Hamdam under Content, and you read Hamdam in English, on an iPhone or iPad whose language Apple Intelligence supports. In Farsi, and on devices without Apple Intelligence, Hamdam draws from its own written library instead. That is the usual reason two people see reflections of different texture.
  • Apple Intelligence never picks the poem. The verse, the symbols in it and their reading all come from the app's own sourced library.
  • After eight in the evening Today adds a short recap of what your day held and what was around you. It reports; it never scores.
  • Under the reflection button are three shortcuts into the Garden: Breathe, Riddle and Wind down. Readers who meet the poets also find a door to the faal beside the button.
