A Persian verse and a reflection, chosen for how your day feels.
Hamdam reflects your heart and your sky.
Tell Hamdam how your heart feels. It answers with a verse.
ای دل عبث مخور غم دنیا را فکرت مکن نیامده فردا را کنج قفس چو نیک بیندیشی چون گلشن است مرغ شکیبا را
O heart, do not grieve vainly over this world, do not worry about a tomorrow not yet come / If you think clearly, even a cage's corner is a rose garden for the patient bird.
Parvin
This is how the app works. In Hamdam, your reflection follows.
There is more waiting for you in the appA companion for the daily reflection.
Every day, Hamdam meets you at the hour it finds you: a morning that opens gently, an afternoon that steadies, an evening that settles. Tell it how your heart feels with a simple slider, and it offers a verse and a reflection chosen for that feeling.
Hamdam is a private reflection journal and Persian poetry app for iPhone and iPad.
Every verse arrives in its original Persian, or in English, drawn from Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam, Parvin Etesami, Ferdowsi and Nezami. Open it further and the whole poem unfolds around the line you were given, its themes named beneath it. Many verses can be heard as well as read, in the voice of a named Persian reciter.
Ask Hamdam
Ask Hamdam answers typed questions about the reader’s own reflections, journal and family stories, on the device: with Apple Intelligence in English, and in Farsi with an optional model downloaded from Apple. It is part of Hamdam Plus.
And a library of seven hundred verses from seven poets, in Persian or English.
Persian calendar
A full Persian calendar, free with no limits.
Hamdam includes a full Persian (Shamsi) calendar, free with no limits, when the app is set to Farsi. Shamsi months with the Gregorian date under every day, Persian numerals, Iran's public holidays and the poets' named days, search, and your own events.
Hamdam 2.0. Your family, and the meaning you keep together.
Version 1 gave you a verse, a sky and a place to think. Version 2 adds the people. Roots becomes a living family rather than a list, your family can join you from their own iCloud without either of you handing over a single private thing, the Watch stops being a mirror of the phone and becomes a door of its own, and everything you have set comes back after a reinstall. Apple Intelligence sits underneath all of it, on your device, and it is never the thing that chooses a poem for you.
Roots, rebuilt around people
A family is not a list of names. Roots now holds a graph of people, the links between them, and the meaning attached to each one. The Family Universe lays faces out in tiers by generation with threads drawn between parent and child, and a stepper walks you back through the generations.
Ask an Elder
Hand your phone to your grandmother and let her answer in her own voice. Hamdam records it, keeps it, and writes down the words afterwards. The audio is the thing being kept, so it is saved first and saved regardless: if the words cannot be made out, or the language is not one the transcriber knows, you still have her voice.
Private messages inside the family
The people you can message are exactly the people already in your family, so there is no address book, no account and nobody to add. Messages are closed end to end: the body of what you write is encrypted before it leaves the device and Apple cannot read it, and neither can we. Messaging is part of Hamdam Plus.
Your family, from their own iCloud
Now you can invite your sister and she joins the same family from her own Apple ID.
Today, Reflections and the Garden, reworked
After eight in the evening there is a recap of what your day held and what was around you, and it is never a score. Reflections is four clear segments, and a moment can now carry a mark for how it felt. And there is a Kiosk, which reads RSS and Atom feeds you choose, with nothing bundled and nothing on Today.
Every reflection is kept for you.
Over the weeks, Hamdam shows you your own weather: your moods, your seasons, your journey. A private journal, your favourites, and a gentle streak that forgives a missed day.
Hamdam is waiting to meet you.
The Garden
Nothing is asked of you that the day cannot carry.
Three coaches, Body, Spirit and Mind, turn today’s one line into a plan for the whole day, reading from your Health data, your calendar and the weather.
A garden bed for habits
Plant one small thing, say when it happens and what you will do on the day it does not, then watch it grow on every day you tend it.
A riddle each morning
A new one waits every day, beside the verse you already came for.
A verse for every morning. Seven poets. In Persian or English. Centuries of wisdom.
غنچه گو تنگ‌دل از کارِ فروبسته مَباش
کز دَمِ صبح مدد یابی و انفاسِ نسیم
Tell the bud: do not be small-hearted at what remains closed — for from the morning's breath you will find help, and from the breeze's sigh.
گرچه خزان کرد جفاها بسی
بین که بهاران چه وفا می‌کند
Though autumn committed many cruelties — see what faithfulness spring brings.
گنجشک خرد گفت سحر با کبوتری
کآخر تو هم برون کن ازین آشیان سری
آفاق روشن است، چه خسبی به تیرگی
روزی بپر، ببین چمن و جوئی و جری
A small sparrow said at dawn to a pigeon: won't you too lift your head from this nest? / The horizons are bright — why do you sleep in darkness? Fly a day, go see the meadow, the stream, the brook.
Seven poets, seven voices.
Verses sourced from Ganjoor.net. Portraits are artistic interpretations.
Hamdam keeps the days that matter where you come from, and where you live.
A Persian calendar, free with no limits. Set Hamdam to Farsi and Roots opens on the Shamsi month, the Gregorian date under every day, Nowruz, Yalda, Iran's public holidays and the poets' days, with search and your own events.
You choose both in the app. Nothing here is read from your device.
Ekka is a Brisbane holiday rather than a statewide one, and Boxing Day shows its observed date when 26 December falls on a weekend.
Hamdam meets you wherever you look.
Ask Siri to start a reflection, hear today's verse, or check your streak. Add a widget to your Home Screen. If you wear an Apple Watch, your verse and streak travel with you. If you choose, each reflection can be saved to Apple Health as a State of Mind entry, with calm music playing alongside through Apple Music.
The companions, the calendar and Family Sharing are all optional, and each stays off until you ask for it.
Hamdam does not use accounts. It does not collect emails. Your words never leave your device unless you turn on your own iCloud sync. Nobody at Hamdam can read a word you write.
